Endicott
[key], village (2020 pop. 13,667), Broome co., S central N.Y., on the
Susquehanna River; settled c.1795, inc. 1906. Major businesses included the
Endicott Johnson Corporation, a manufacturer of shoes and boots that
operated in town from 1899 to 1995; and IBM, originally founded as the
Computer-Tabulating-Recording Co. in town in 1911. IBM continues to operate
a small set of offices there. Triple Cities College was founded there in
1946, which ultimately moved and was incorporated into the SUNY system and
is now known as Binghamton Univ.
