Government
Senegal is governed under the constitution of 2001 as amended. The president, who is the head of state and head of government, is directly elected to a five-year term and is eligible for a second term. The unicameral parliament consists of the 150-seat National Assembly, whose members are popularly elected for five-year terms. Administratively, the country is divided into eleven regions.
