14 Million Vehicles Involved in Takata Air Bag Recall (Oct. 29): By late October, the number of vehicles recalled due to faulty Takata air bags has risen to 14 million. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, multiple injuries have been linked to the air bags which can malfunction during deployment, sending shrapnel into the car. The companies involved in the recall include BMW, Chrysler, Ford, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota, and Mitsubishi. The Takata air bag recall comes in the same year as the ignition switch recall from General Motors which also involved a large number of cars.
