• U.S. Economy Adds Only 74,000 Jobs Last Month (Jan. 10): According to the Labor Department, the U.S. economy adds only 74,0000 jobs in December 2013. The number is far below the 200,000 jobs that many economists were predicting. The unemployment rate falls from 7.0% in November to 6.7% in December, the lowest it has been since November 2008. However, this is largely due to people dropping out of work force.
