Miramax is reportedly going ahead with plans to produce a movie about Osama bin Laden's plans to destroy the White House. The story is based on an eerily prescient novel, Crisis Four, by Andy McNabb, a former officer in the British intelligence agency SAS.

Actress Rebecca Gayheart is charged with misdemeanor manslaughter for the June accident in which she struck and killed 9-year-old Jorge Cruz while driving her SUV. Witnesses said she was on her cell phone and passed cars that were stopped to allow the boy to cross the street.

The 53rd Emmy Prime-time Awards are rescheduled—again. Originally slated for Sept. 16, the ceremony was postponed in light of the terrorist attacks on the U.S. CBS and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences decide to hold off longer, saying any celebration would still be inappropriate. No date has been set.
Sharon Stone is released from a San Francisco hospital after receiving treatment for a subarachnoid hemorrhage, which was initially diagnosed as a brain aneurysm.

Conservative radio personality Rush Limbaugh announces that he is “for all practical purposes, deaf.” He says he plans to continue hosting his show, although the call-in segment may have to be eliminated.

A California judge sentences beleaguered stand-up comic Paula Poundstone to a 180-day stay at the Promises rehab center and 200 hours of community service. He also bans her from ever caring for foster children again. Superior Court Judge Bernard Kamins also puts her on probation for five years and demands that she abstain from alcohol. She was arrested and charged with three counts of committing lewd acts on a girl under 14 and one count of endangering two girls and two boys in June. Poundstone has three adopted children and has cared for several foster children.

An assistant to CBS News anchor Dan Rather tested positive for cutaneous anthrax, the fifth person to do so. The woman is on Cipro and is expected to fully recover. ABC and NBC have also been the targets of anthrax attacks.
