High school revisited. When the winsome Prom King (Prinze, Jr.) starts pursuing Laney Boggs (Cook), the brainy bohemian outcast blossoms into the full figure of adolescent womanhood. She ditches her glasses, cuts her hair, starts wearing skimpy dresses and steps into the warm bath of social acceptance. Kind of like Cinderella. . . or Molly Ringwald circa Pretty in Pink. Will the fact that this unlikely couple was brought together by a studly bet ruin their relationship? Can the formulaic plot developments and haphazard episodes be overlooked by anyone born before 1980? If the words “romantic comedy” don't answer these questions, then this movie's for you.
