Eldest child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Charles Windsor was given the title of Prince of Wales in 1958 and became heir apparent to the English throne in 1952. He went to Trinity College and served in the RAF and Royal Navy (1971–76). His marriage to Lady Diana Spencer was highly publicized, but the couple divorced in 1996. Their two sons are Princes William and Henry. Diana was killed in a car accident in 1997. In 2005, Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles, who became known at Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall. If Charles becomes King, she will be known as Princess Consort.
