Dick Schaap
Age: 67author and Emmy-award-winning sports broadcaster; wrote more than 30 books, including bestsellers "Instant Replay" with Jerry Kramer of the Green Bay Packers in 1968 and "Bo Knows Bo" with 1980s two-sport star Bo Jackson; collaborated on autobiographies with Hank Aaron, Joe Montana, Tom Seaver and others; won two sports Emmys for his work on ESPN and three for features on ABC's "20/20" and "World News Tonight"; began journalism career as 15-year-old sportswriter for a Long Island newspaper edited by 20-year-old Jimmy Breslin; editor at Newsweek and editor/columnist at New York Herald Tribune in the 1960s; edited Sport magazine and broadcast sports and features for NBC and ABC-TV in the 1970s and 80s; joined ESPN in 1989, hosting Sunday morning's "The Sports Reporters" and was a fixture on ESPN Classic and ESPN radio with his son, Jeremy. He died of complications following hip surgery.
