William (Bill) Gardiner
Age: 77chief scout for the NBA's Washington Wizards since 1974 and former basketball coach at Loyola of New Orleans; won a championship ring with the Bullets in 1978; coached college basketball for 23 years at Springhill (Ala.), Loyola and Catholic University; past president of the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Died of a long illness.
