The highest temperature ever recorded for the month of September occurred on September 2, 1950, in Mecca, Calif. (elevation –175 ft), where the temperature reached 126°F.

The lowest temperature ever recorded for the month of September occurred on September 24, 1926, at Riverside Ranger Station, Wyo. (elevation 6,500 ft), where the temperature fell to –9°F.
