Chadwick, Lynn (Lynn Russell Chadwick), 1914–2003, English sculptor. After studying architecture, Chadwick began his career as a sculptor in 1945, working largely in metal. He came to international attention when he represented Great Britain in the 1952 Venice Biennale and when he was awarded the International Sculpture Prize at the 1956 Biennale. Chadwick first produced wire mobiles. After 1955 he turned to large metal works, often in bronze or steel, that are largely angular semiabstract human or other figures. Among these sculptures, many of which have been placed in outdoor settings, the monumental bronzes Three Elektras (1969) and Two Seated Figures (1973) and the stainless steel Crouching Beast I (1990).
