A research study performed by a group of brain imaging experts indicated that the SARS-CoV-2 virus is associated with changes in the human brain structure. The study consisted of 785 participants, among which 385 were Covid negative while 401 were positives. The two groups underwent two MRI scans over a period of time. The results showed visible differences in the brains of people who had COVID and those that did not. People who had disease showed that their brains suffered a greater decline in grey matter compared to those who didn't. The study was conducted on people belonging to different age groups, sex, and other demographic status. Some data were obtained from the US Biobank from as far back as 2014 for certainty and clarity.
