Heatwave Turns Deadly
On July 3, it was announced that the heatwave in the US is expected to last through July 4th. The heat advisory affects nearly 80 million people. So far, one person has died as a result, and two more deaths are under investigation. (CNN)

Heatwave Turns Deadly
On July 4, heavy rains caused flooding in Houston, reminding the city of the devastating floods brought on by Hurricane Harvey. The flooding caused many Fourth of July festivities to be cancelled. (CNN)
Heatwave Continues as Dozens Die in Canada
On July 5, it was predicted that the heatwave that killed 33 people in Canada would begin to spread throughout the western US states. As the heat builds, wildfire concerns rise. (CNN)
Heatwave in Los Angeles
On July 7, thousands of people in Los Angeles lost power after a heat wave increased the demand for electricity. The unexpected demand caused power outages across the city. (CNN)

Tropical Storm Beryl Heads Towards Puerto Rico
On July 8, Tropical Storm Beryl weakened as it approached Puerto Rico. The storm is expected to continue weakening, but is still headed towards the country. Puerto Rico is not currently under any warnings. (CNN)

Flooding in Japan
On July 8, flooding in Japan led to landslides that left at least 85 people dead and another 58 missing. Another 2 million have been forced to leave their homes, as hundreds of homes continue to be destroyed. (CNN)

Heavy Rains Hit Puerto Rico
On July 9, Storm Beryl brought heavy rains and wind to Puerto Rico. Power outages have occurred, and parts of the country are under flash flood warnings. (CNN)

More Die in Japan Floods
On July 10, it was announced that the death toll from the floods and landslides in Japan rose to 155. Rescuers continue to look for survivors, as dozens of people are still missing. (BBC)

Hurricane Chris Weakens
On July 11, Hurricane Chris was announced to have weakened, but is still moving fast. The hurricane is expected to pick up speed in the next couple days. North Carolina and mid-Atlantic states are expected to be affected. (CNN)
Landslides in India
On July 11, landslides were triggered by heavy rains in India. The landslides killed eight children and a woman. Rescue workers are still looking through debris for survivors. (Reuters)

Myanmar Landslides

Yosemite Highway Closed
On July 16, a California wildfire near Yosemite National Park continued to burn. The fire has killed one firefighter, and caused the highway to the park to close. (Reuters)

Lava Bomb Hits Tour Boat
On July 17, a lava bomb in Hawaii hit a tour boat, injuring 23 people. The lava bomb left a hole in the boat’s roof. (CNN)

Japan Faces Heatwave
On July 17, Japan faced an intense heatwave that left at least 14 people dead. Temperatures were over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and were combined with humidity. (Reuters)
Wildfire Spreads in Oregon
On July 18, one person died as the wildfire in Oregon spread. The fire is a 45,000-acre fire, and people are still being told to evacuate. (CNN)

Flooding in Asia
On July 22, it was reported that flash flooding in Vietnam killed 21 people, while landslides led to the evacuation of 190,000 people in Shanghai. Rescuers are still searching for missing people. (CNN)
Heatwave in Japan Breaks Record
On July 23, the temperature in Kumagaya reached 106 degrees Fahrenheit, breaking the record set in 2013. Officials have issued warnings for people to stay inside. (BBC)
Landslides in Bangladesh
On July 25, five people died and thousands more were forced to relocate after heavy rains created landslides in Bangladesh. (Reuters)

Fire Causes Parts of Yosemite National Park to Close
On July 25, it was announced that some areas of Yosemite National Park will close due to the ongoing wildfires. Yosemite Valley and Wawona are two of the destinations that will close. (CNN)

Wildfires Near Athens
On July 25, wildfires in Greece left at least 74 people dead. Residents were forced to escape the flames by jumping into the sea. Boats have been sent to help. (CNN)

Carr Fire Heats Up
On July 31, the Carr Fire in Northern California continued to rage. As winds picked up, the fire created its own localized weather system because it has become so hot. Nineteen people remain missing, as the fire has burned 103,772 acres since it began last week. (CNN)
