- On Nov. 14, 2016, Samsung announces that they will buy Harman International Industries Inc. for $8 billion. This will move Samsung into the automotive industry and is Samsung's largest overseas acquisition to date; the company is based in South Korea. The company is hoping to become the go-to supplier for in-car entertainment to connected-auto services. The decision to buy Harman is brought to the board by Jay Lee, who recently ascended to the company's electronics board.
