- The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Will Smith and Barry Sonnenfeld have agreed to put the kibosh on plans for a Muhammad Ali film. Sony plans to keep the project in development, with another director and star.

- Veronica's Closet's Wallace Langham is arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery and committing a hate crime. The charges stem from a Sept. incident in which he allegedly verbally and physically attacked a gay tabloid reporter. Langham, who plays a sexually ambiguous character on the sitcom, claims the unidentified reporter made rude comments to Langham's girlfriend, and he was defending her.

- Waking Ned Devine's Ian Bannen dies in a car crash in Scotland. He was 71. His other film credits include The Flight of the Phoenix, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award, Braveheart, and Hope and Glory.

- People magazine once again looks to the silver set for its pick of the “Sexiest Man Alive,” thus honoring 50-year-old Richard Gere. Last year the magazine chose Harrison Ford, who was 56 at the time.

- Toy Story 2 dominates theaters over the Thanksgiving-weekend and shatters box-office records. In its opening five-day weekend, it grossed a whopping $80.8 million. Last year's A Bug's Life previously held the record, which was $45.7 million.
