If Dante's Peak, the first of three blockbuster volcano movies to explode in theaters in 1997, is any indication of what's to come, moviegoers can expect an eruption of formulaic, cliché-ridden disaster flicks. Tipped off that there's trouble brewing in a mountain looming over Dante's Peak, Idaho, volcanologist Harry Dalton (Brosnan) travels to the picturesque town to investigate. Dalton finds time to flirt with the town's sexy mayor, Rachel Wando (Hamilton). Red-hot love and lava run wild.
