Harrison Ford for President! This is the guy who should be in the Oval Office. He's a decorated Vietnam vet, a doting father and husband and a tough, no-nonsense leader with cojones. And, he sticks to his guns. Where was he in 1992? 1996? Ford's so convincing as President James Marshall that it's easy to forget he's acting. But the problem is that in a summer where blockbusters are a dime a dozen, Air Force One emerges as a seen-it-before thriller. Returning home from Moscow, where he delivered an impassioned speech about suppressing dictators and terrorists, President Marshall, his family and staff are taken hostage on Air Force One by fanatic Ivan Korshunov (Oldman) and his gang of thugs who will stop at nothing to resurrect Communism. Marshall's veep (Close) holds down the fort on the ground with businesslike precision, even when she's going head-to-head with the trigger-happy secretary of defense (Stockwell).
