Designer whose Danish Modern furniture gained popularity in the 1950s and 60s, combining a Modernist esthetic with functionality. His Wegner chairs were especially noted for their simplicity, gracefulness, elegance, and comfort. Both Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy used Wegner chairs in the first nationally televised presidential debate in 1960.
