Republican representative from Illinois, is the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. Hyde's committee has the responsibility of leading the impeachment inquiry on President Clinton, which was approved by the House on October 7 in an historic vote. Hyde himself became the subject of scandal when Salon, an online magazine, revealed his own adulterous affair.
