Bill Mauldin

army sergeant and cartoonist who won a Pulitzer Prize for his works featuring Willie and Joe, two bedraggled World War II infantrymen who battled not only the Germans, but also the boredom and indignities of war. He won a second Pulitzer Prize in 1959 for a cartoon he drew about imprisoned writer Boris Pasternak for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
