Herb Porter

mechanic whose engine work helped drivers like Bobby Unser, Johnny Rutherford and A.J. Foyt win Indianapolis 500 titles; along with partner Rick Long, owned Speedway Engine Development, Inc.; nicknamed "Herbie Horsepower". Died 27 days after suffering critical injuries in an auto accident on May 20, and 26 days after being inducted into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame.
